Big Team Curry
Calling everyone from the A's, B's, C's and Ladies!
(and everyone who's ever sat in a canoe)

To celebrate the forming of our teams and Mark Hadley's 30th Birthday (Congratulations Mark),we're going out for a club curry this coming Thursday at King Baba'z.

When- 7.30pm Thursday 27th February

Where- King Baba CV31 3AE (Opposite TJ's in Leamington)

Why?- Why Not!

Could you please sign up ASAP to give us an idea of numbers for the table booking:
http://www.warwickcanoe.co.uk/site/trips/trip/377/

I hear that King Baba'z use a standard waiter service opposed to the 'proprietor shouting the menu out, one dish at a time, and asking for a show of hands' method which we're used to.
As usual it's bring you own booze, the Coop down the road is usual a good place to pick up some cans.

If you're coming from campus, meet up at the bus stop around 6.45, get off at the Church opposite Robbins Well, walk towards Kelsey's, King Baba'z will be on your left opposite TJ's. If go under the railway bridge, you've gone too far.
If you're coming from Leam I trust you can find the Curry house

Well done to those who have applied themselves so far, keep up the hard work as we have some way to go.

Canoe Club Elections

Posted 8y 3mth ago by Some Old Git
Posted by: Sam

Rumours abound about the end of an era On Wednesday Week 8 (2/3/16) we will be holding our annual elections downstairs in the Robbins Well to decide who will be in charge of this mighty club next year. Proceedings will begin at 19:00 prompt so I would suggest you turn up a touch early to faff with drinks etc. The dress code is formal so please get suited and booted!

The positions are:

President ÔÇô Organises and runs everything within the club.
Vice President ÔÇô Supporting the President in organising and running everything within the club.
Treasurer ÔÇô In charge of ensuring the club remains solvent and apportioning the budget.
Secretary ÔÇô Takes the minutes of meetings and is in charge of ordering any club merchandise.
Kit Secretary ÔÇô In charge of kit maintenance and purchasing.
Coaching Secretary ÔÇô Organises coaching at pool sessions as well as any courses throughout the year.
Tour Secretary ÔÇô Deals with everything Scotland.

Social sec (x2) [Joint with Canoe Polo]ÔÇô Organising and running the weekly socials as well as post pool session pub trips during freshers.
Mediamonkey [Joint with Canoe Polo]ÔÇô Keeping the website and social media up to date (talking to Tom Jin/Greg/Webbo if anything needs fixing!)

If you remain undecided whether to run or not, I would fully impel you to do so! Not only does it look good on your CV, being a part of the exec is the ideal way to voice your opinions on how the club is run (i.e. get minibuses that work!).  Without a committed, diligent exec the club will crumble and considering the plethora of positions available there is something suited to everyone. Warwick Canoe needs you!

If you are unsure of what any of the positions entail then please get in touch with me, or ask the current exec.

Once you have decided to run please let me know which position(s) youÔÇÖre thinking of running for (preferably in writing so I donÔÇÖt forget!). Then it is time to get creative. You need to come up with a canoe themed song (or poem or interpretive dance) as well as a joke, both of which will be performed on the night.

Additionally, if you are running for president then you will need to submit a short manifesto (200 word limit) detailing why you are the best candidate for the job. This needs to be emailed to me by midnight Wednesday week 7 (24/2/16). If you miss the deadline then your name will still be sent out, but with ÔÇ£No Manifesto SubmittedÔÇØ beneath it.

Please note, our elections will be held concurrently with the Canoe Polo club (you can hold positions on both execs!).

If you have any questions at all then donÔÇÖt hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to seeing the products of your creativity!
